Yrn.me for Wordpress - v0.1 Pre-release Available.
This is a simple plugin that auto-shrinks all your blog posts url’s via yrn.me shortner on wordpress, then dispalys it right under every post that you make.
See a snapshot of it working live on http://otekbits.com at http://grab.by/bIZI
Its that simple and it comes with the new tweet button which you can activate on the settings page. You can also signup for yrn.me account and add your UserKey to gain full ownership of your links.
The plugin will soon be submitted to WordPress so that you can install it and receive updates without the technical guide bellow:
How to Install the v0.1 Prelease version:
Download at: http://ge.tt/9JJXxsC?c
It takes a few technical steps though:
1) Unzip the folder yrn-for-wordpress.zip to grab a folder “yrn_me” and a “read-me.txt” file.
2) Copy the folder “yrn_me” to your wordpress’s “/wp-content/plugins/” directory and head on to your usual admin page for wordpress.
3) Go to plugins and activate “Yrn.Me for Wordpress” — That’s it!
Why you should use this plugin?
Because yrn.me is African, with the aims of building stuff around your content that will benefit more people around the world, while you enjoy the benefit of giving your readers a short-url to reach you content.
Seen how easier it is to share “http://yrn.me/4ej” than “http://otekbits.com/pocketmoni-way-to-go-in-cashless-economy/”?
Also, when the full release version comes live, you will be able to monitor your links graphical statististics right from your wordpress dashboard.

“Lots of cries to yrn.me’s captcha, I brought a solution. Non users will only be asked captcha once’s in 10days! That’s fair for now.”
The New Yrn.me Is Live.
Hurray, the new yrn.me beta is now live and these are the new new features:
- Thumbnails and Page Titles:
When you shrink links, yrn.me now gets the link title, description and thumbnail snap of the page. So that you understand what a link is about right on yrn.me the next time you check it.

Yes, I understood the old stats report was so lame! So i made it more clearer in graphs and you can also now see stats in hourly or monthly report.
- Folder Organisation:
You can now organise links in folders, so that you can refer back to old links faster! You may want to put all articles in a folder; say, My Articles!
- Notification Control:
We all have different level of email tolerance, on the settings page; not only can you update your name, email and password, you can also control wether to receive timely upgrade and related emails about yrn.me or not.
That is all we have so far… but you can follow this blog for more future update announcements on my progress relating to yrn.me.

What is yrn.me and tell me more!
A number of people have asked me alot about yrn.me. I figured I could answer it here for all.
What is yrn.me and who’s behind it?
Yrn.me is a URL shortner that works. Oh and it also allows you to customize, share and organise links you shorten. It is is free for your consumption, still on beta and improved every week.
Yrn.me is designed and developed by Ahmad Mukoshy, a 21yr web developer from the heart of Africa. Who works at Aimtech! (A web hosting companyempowering over 500 websites in Nigeria.)
Ahmad worked on so many things on the web and is still exploring!
What are your revenue plans?
Though, i am still considering lots of possibilities. I don’t have one right now, and I’m not worrying about it. But, if i get funded; that won’t be bad either. ;)
Who are your target users?
This service is open to the world, however I am trying to reach out to the local market for now. I hope you didn’t expect me to target USA, did you?
Are you advertising or marketing at all?
For now, i rely fully on social media and word of mouth. But i surely will in the future, when i get some working revenue models. You could also help me retweet/share yrn.me links when you come across them!
Did you built it all from scratch?
Yes, from a blank php document and an empty mysql table.
Thank you and if you have any question about yrn.me, feel free to tweet me @mukoshy

The basic API for your remote apps!
The API allows you to shorten URL remotely for your web application uses!
» HTTP RESPONSE METHOD:
_GET REQUEST (PAGE = http://yrn.me/api/get.php).
e.g: http://yrn.me/api/get.php?url=http://your-long-url.com
Upon requesting the URL you would like to shorten as specified above, a HTTP response page will be returned. If the URL was successfully shortened, the body of the response will contain only the new shortened URL, in plain text.
However, If the request was unsuccessful, the body of the response page will contain an error message like “Error: invalid URL”.
» URL RETURN METHOD:
This method may be easier for beginers, its comes via the _POST Request. Simply create hidden fields containig the URL to be shorted and the return page. Your shortened URL will be returned to your selected return page via GET.
_POST METHOD (ACTION = http://yrn.me/api/post.php).

[input type="hidden" name="return_url" value="http://yourwebsite.com/shortned.html" /]
